Powell & Couch seal Beijing slots Stacie Powell and Tonia Couch have both qualified for the 2008 Beijing Olympics after winning the 10m synchro event in Leeds...

Powell and Couch beat British champions Monique McCarroll and Sarah Barrow showing great composure to seal their places in the Team GB diving squad.

The pair completed their efforts with a final score of 324.72, while McCarroll and Barrow finished on 321.72.

"I'm quite emotional, I didn't think we would make it," Couch said.

"It just hasn't sunk in for me yet," Powell added.

"That was a personal best score for us and I think the whole situation will hit me when I speak to my family and friends."

Carol and Helen Galashan, who competed at their first international competition together just a week ago, finished in third place with a score of 304.71.

Divers will compete again on Saturday pushing for selection in the women's 3m and 10m Individual events.

Blake Aldridge, who will be nominated to dive with Tom Daley in the men's 10m Synchro in Beijing, has been forced to withdraw from action this weekend due to an injury he suffered in a motorcycle accident.
