One of the most frustrating things about being in accident is the recovery period. You may feel ready to take on the world but your physician probably has a different view. It's important to take the road to recovery slowly and only engage in activities your physician has approved of. Once the initial healing period is over, you may be sent to a physical therapy center. At one of these facilities you will be able to heal your muscles and joints and get back into shape. If something is amiss, many of the other parts don't work the way they should. If you sustained a leg injury, you may feel pain or stress in your lower back. The same can be true if you've injured a shoulder: there may be some intermittent tingling and numbness in your hand. At an accredited physical therapy center you will be evaluated and treated so the core problem is addressed which will help with any associated discomfort. If you've broken an arm and you are an automotive mechanic, your injury will require more extensive therapy than an elderly person who lives a sedentary lifestyle would had they broken an arm. Your therapist will certainly explain you how the heat and cold affect the injury site and what you can do at home to aid in the healing process. You may be instructed to use ice packs in addition to a heating pad to help with your injury. Follow all instructions given to you and you'll be back to normal very quickly. Instead, you can focus on getting well. |
